About Line Tools
Many everyday text jobs work line by line: sorting a list, removing duplicates, trimming whitespace, or numbering rows. Doing them in an editor by hand is slow, and shell one-liners are awkward to remember.
This tool applies operations such as sort, deduplicate, reverse, shuffle, trim, and number lines to your text, in your browser. It is convenient for cleaning lists of emails, IDs, hostnames, or log lines.
Common use cases
- Removing duplicate entries from a list.
- Sorting a list of names or identifiers alphabetically.
- Trimming stray whitespace from every line.
- Adding line numbers or reversing the order of lines.
Frequently asked questions
- Is sorting case sensitive?
- It can be either. Sorting and deduplicating both have a case-sensitivity option, so choose it to match how you want "Apple" and "apple" treated.
- Does deduplicating keep the first occurrence?
- Each distinct line is kept once. Compare with your original if the order of lines matters to you.
- Is my list uploaded?
- No. All operations run locally.
